Gaby is a darling little Poodle mix who is only about 1 year old and weighs about 15 pounds. She's totally nonshedding and housebroken. Gaby had a rough start in her young life. We found her walking on a curb in South LA. She was scared, extremely thin, and had a back leg that was obviously broken and non-functioning. Her coat was matted and filthy. She had no chip, no collar and had probably been hit by a car at some point. Once we got her we took her to the vet immediately and x-rays showed the leg and been broken in several places and the best thing to do would be to amputate. Fortunately it was a back leg and since she wasn't able to use it anyway, Gaby quickly adjusted after the surgery. She was racing around on three legs within the week and was obviously so much happier as it was probably causing a lot of pain. Gaby has blossomed into an amazing, loving little girl who is a big cuddler and loves to give doggie kisses. She's funny and super smart and learned the doggie dog in a day and never had an accident in the house. Her stellar temperament is a testimonial to the resilience of dogs. She loves everyone she meets and is gentle and passive with little kids. She's great on a leash and loves to go for walks however, I keep her walks limited to down the block and back up the other side. Gaby loves playing with toys and can keep herself busy chewing on a bone. She has been one of the easiest dogs I've ever fostered and certainly the most affectionate. Gaby gets along with other dogs but gets jealous when I'm giving mine attention. She never is mean - she'll just barge her way between us to make sure she gets her share. Gaby would do best in a house with a yard and one story. She would make an excellent family dog as well as a therapy dog.
