Meet Danny! This gentle two-year-old Terrier mix is currently in Amherst, MA, embodying a quiet spark of hope wrapped in a beautiful white coat adorned with striking black patches. After the heartbreaking loss of his beloved pet parent, Danny faced challenges but has shown remarkable growth. With patience and kindness, this shy dog has begun to flourish, greeting familiar faces with a wagging tail and enjoying playtime. At 32 pounds, he's a medium-sized companion who enjoys a relaxed lifestyle and loves carrying his favorite Sock Monkey. Though he enjoys his walks, unexpected noises can still unsettle him. When feeling overwhelmed, he finds comfort in familiar places. Danny has been working with a veterinary behavior specialist and receives Gabapentin to help manage his anxiety, but he's come a long way. He's house-trained, microchipped, neutered, and has current vaccinations. He can be left alone calmly, welcomes visitors, and has no history of aggression towards people and dogs. However, trips to the vet can be daunting, and he may require sedation to help him feel safe. Danny benefits from the company of another calm, confident dog, making a home with a gentle canine partner the best fit for him. He’s suitable for a family with older, respectful children, as he can be overwhelmed by sudden movements and loud activity. A patient adopter experienced with anxious dogs would help him continue to build confidence. A fenced yard, predictable routine, and a family committed to letting him settle in at his own pace are essential for his progress. Could your loving home be the place where Danny writes his next happy chapter? Remember, Danny is open for long-distance adoption, proving that love knows no boundaries!
