Meet Ira. Ira is a joyful 10-month-old flat-coated retriever mix, the perfect size for walks, jogging, and all sorts of outdoor fun, weighing in at about 40 pounds. This energetic pup absolutely loves water and has a playful spirit but also shows a gentle side. He is actively building his confidence and has already mastered basic commands like sit, being highly motivated by treats. Currently, Ira is honing his leash skills and making great progress. He thrives in a structured environment filled with patience and love. His new family should have puppy-raising experience and commit to enrolling him in a positive training class for the best start possible. Ira gets along well with other dogs but is a bit timid around cats; older children would be the best fit as his energy can be overwhelming for little ones. A fenced yard is required, and he is 90% housebroken but will need patience as he adjusts to a new routine. Ira is neutered and has started his vaccinations, including rabies and Bordetella, and is on flea and heartworm prevention. The adoption fee is $225. Applicants must live within an hour of Elkhart, IN. All dogs and cats in the home must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccines for application approval.
