Meet Boots, a charming shepherd/spitz mix named after his adorable white-tipped paws! This handsome boy boasts a warm gray coat and, at around 12-18 months old and 50 pounds, he still has the playful energy of a puppy. Boots’s journey started in Houston, TX, where he faced a grim fate on the euthanasia list just days after arriving at a crowded shelter. Fortunately, he received a golden opportunity for a second chance. With time, patience, and love, Boots is gradually emerging from his protective shell. Now fostered in St. Paul, Minnesota, he’s learning the joys of being a beloved house dog. His foster mom reports that he’s adapting wonderfully to home life, showing great social skills with other dogs. While Boots thrives with canine companions who can guide him, he can also flourish as the only dog. This sweet, gentle, and affectionate boy takes some time to build trust but shows his loving nature once he does. His playful little nibbles are being redirected appropriately with chew toys and training. Boots is intelligent and eager to learn, quickly picking up commands just from observing the other dogs around him. He enjoys walks, loves playtime, and has a bit of prey drive, especially towards squirrels and rabbits, but settles down for long naps afterward.
