Meet Maru. This charming domestic shorthair is originally from April 2022. Initially shy, it took him several months to build trust with people, but now he’s the sweetest companion you could hope for. Maru gets along well with other cats and has tried to befriend his adopted sister, Mitsuki; he really enjoys playing with his foster mom’s resident cats, although he can be a bit too exuberant at times. Maru would thrive in a home with another sociable cat, especially another boy who loves to play and wrestle, or potentially a small to medium dog that has plenty of energy. His favorite things include a fuzzy mouse filled with catnip, mealtime kibble, and the occasional munch on romaine lettuce. He loves snoozing in sunny spots, often curling up under the covers or tucking his face into his paws when he sleeps. While he doesn't like being picked up, he’s happy to sit on your lap with a blanket. He enjoys cheek scratches, back pets, and even a good brushing, though he might get a bit wiggly. Instead of a typical meow, Maru has an endearing chirping sound that he uses to communicate. He’s litter box trained and adept at using both regular and automatic boxes, though he does enjoy scratching furniture, so provide plenty of scratching posts. Maru is looking for a quiet home where someone is patient enough to let him come out of his shell in his own time.
