Meet Lucky, or as his friends affectionately call him, Polka Dots for his little spots! This one-year-old, 8-pound rat terrier mix is a charming and snuggly little fellow. Rescued from the Southwest, Lucky was surrendered alongside his friend Lucy. Currently low energy, he’s beginning to show interest in play and leash walks. His foster believes he’ll transition to a moderate energy level once he feels fully at home. Lucky is people-oriented, coming when called and eagerly jumping onto laps for kisses. He enjoys his downtime too, appreciating cozy couch naps. While he can feel a bit nervous in new environments, he shows bravery and quickly adapts. Lucky is friendly with everyone he meets, gets along well with his foster siblings—both large and small—and has shown no reactivity during walks. He does have a tendency to be a bit growly at mealtime if his companions crowd him. Potty trained, Lucky is still refining his crate training and has already mastered "sit". He thrives on a routine of walks, playtime, and naps. Lucky would do best in a calm, apartment-friendly home as an only dog or with another gentle companion. He could be an ideal first pet since he doesn’t have complex behavioral needs, though a high-energy household might be overwhelming for his sensitive nature.
