Meet Max. This precious dog has faced unimaginable trauma in his life but is now ready for a forever home. Max, a nine-year-old Yorki/Chihuahua mix, weighs about 10 lbs and has a lovely silvery, silky coat alongside intelligent eyes. Initially, he struggled with fear, unsure who was friend or foe. Luckily, he found a loving foster family who patiently allowed him to decompress and adapt. Max now craves closeness, often sitting in laps and following his fosters everywhere. He’s gentle with the kids in his foster home, who treat him with care, and he enjoys the company of resident dogs, learning from them every day. While he loves kids, a quieter home with an older person or couple might be ideal, as sudden movements can startle him due to his past. He is not aggressive—just uncertain. Max is house trained to use pee pads and walks well on a leash. He needs a patient adopter who will allow him to come out of his shell. When he feels safe, he’ll be a loyal companion for life. His journey has shown how brave he can be, and we believe his perfect home is waiting.
