Meet Mikey, our brave little one-eyed warrior! This approximately two-year-old Chihuahua has a heartwarming story that will stir anyone's emotions. Weighing around 14 pounds, he faced a tough start to life while surviving on the streets of Texas. Unfortunately, he suffered an attack, which cost him his left eye. However, Mikey doesn’t let this define him; instead, it adds to his unique charm and spirit. Currently heartworm positive, Mikey is in good hands. The rescue will cover his heartworm treatment until he tests negative, with follow-up care provided at Auglaize Animal Hospital in Wapakoneta. Once he’s all clear, he will also be neutered at no cost to the adoptive family. Mikey also has IVDD, a spinal condition that makes his back sensitive. He does take gabapentin for daily comfort, so it’s crucial that his new family understands how to safely pick him up. With the right care, he thrives and loves to be cradled closely. As a true cuddle bug, he adores affection, hugs, and staying close to his people. He’s great with kids and enjoys the company of other small dogs, though he may grumble initially. Mikey has a knack for potty training and responds well to regular outdoor trips. Up to date on vaccinations, he’s ready to find a family who’ll cherish him for the survivor he is.
