Smokey is a charming 4-year-old Doberman Pinscher and Shar Pei mix who weighs 43 pounds. He originally found his way to our shelter as a puppy, but through no fault of his own, he’s back with us. Smokey has a playful spirit and affectionate nature; he loves being a cuddle bug and will often be found right by your side. He enjoys tugging and wrestling with toys, and his greatest joy is sleeping on the furniture or curling up in bed with you. He can be a bit selective with other dogs, preferring submissive companions smaller than him. Smokey gets along well with children, making him a great family pet. He’s housebroken, crate trained, and knows commands like sit, easy, and down. Smokey requires special dietary considerations due to previous health issues, including a need for a slow feeder and a specific diet to manage allergies. He has been treated for gastric dilatation-volvulus and is currently on Trazadone for his anxiety. His sweet, gentle personality shines through despite these challenges.
