About Banner
Banner is an estimated 2-year-old Border Collie weighing around 40 pounds. Currently up to date on all vaccinations and neutered, he's ready to find the family he's been waiting for. Before coming to Herding Hearts ResQ, Banner was one of six Border Collies who suffered through harsh neglect. It's no wonder that he finds the world a bit overwhelming. Yet, despite his past, he's learning to trust again. Daily, he shows a bit more bravery, curiosity, and willingness to believe that people can be kind. Once he feels safe, a sweet soul emerges from the shadows of fear. While he enjoys the quiet company of those he trusts, he’s still getting used to sharing affection. Witnessing his growth in confidence is truly rewarding, and we believe his brightest days lie ahead. Currently, he's making great progress with his potty training and walks nicely on a leash. Loud noises can startle him, so he needs a patient, gentle adopter who understands that his confidence will build with kindness and consistency. For now, Banner is not ready for off-leash adventures or unconfined spaces due to his fear-driven tendencies. He doesn’t seek perfection but rather a home willing to meet him where he is. The ideal family will be calm and patient, celebrating his small victories and allowing him to settle in at his own pace. The most remarkable dogs often need someone to believe in them, and while Banner may not rush to greet you initially, earning his trust will lead to something truly special. There's nothing quite like seeing a timid dog discover safety, gentle hands, and the warmth of a forever home. If you find joy in helping a dog blossom, Banner might just be your perfect match. His story didn't end when he was abandoned; it began the day he was rescued. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
