Belle wasn't always called Belle. She was once known as Nikki, left behind in a cat carrier on our property—a tiny 9.5-pound Shih Tzu abandoned overnight. Initially, she was terrified and standing in urine, matted so severely that it took eight hours of dedicated grooming to free her from the mats. Despite her rough start, Belle has come a long way. After a few spa days, she started to trust people again and quickly stole the hearts of everyone around her. She completed her stray hold and officially became a part of Canine CellMates. Now, Belle is settling into life Beyond The Bars exceptionally well. Though she began as a shy little thing, she's already formed a special bond with her handler and some of the wonderful participants. Watching her gain confidence daily has been immensely rewarding.
