Meet Malouk. Malouk is a 12-year-old, 85 lb German Shepherd with a gentle spirit and a loving heart. He showed up in our care after being surrendered when his owner passed away. For the previous year, he didn't get the attention he truly needed. Now, he’s ready to find a loving home where he can receive the care he deserves. This sweet senior is blind but that doesn't hold him back; he navigates his surroundings with a resilience that is nothing short of inspiring. He enjoys life’s simple pleasures: relaxed walks, cozy naps, and plenty of treats. Occasionally, he even shows a playful side! Malouk would thrive in a calm, low-key home where he feels safe and settled. He’s perfectly fine being the only pet but can also coexist with calm, respectful dogs or even cats who understand his sensitivities. He is incredibly friendly with people, especially children, making him a gentle addition to any family. Though his blindness can cause some anxiety, he responds well to calming medication and a consistent routine. He finds comfort in his crate and does best when crated while alone. He is house trained but will need some continued leash training as he can pull in excitement or uncertainty. Malouk seeks a peaceful environment where he can feel safe, loved, and understood.
