Meet Baxter, a big, gentle soul who is learning to embrace the joys of life. This sweet Standard Poodle mix is around three years old and tips the scales at 62 pounds. Gentle and a bit shy, he prefers quiet moments of affection over demanding attention. Baxter enjoys playing with other dogs and soaking up pets, often offering a full-body hug when he’s feeling affectionate. Having spent most of his life without a proper home, many everyday experiences are new to him. At first, he can be wary and needs a little coaching to feel safe. However, once he acclimates, he learns quickly. Baxter arrived with severely matted fur and a skin infection but is healing well and adjusting to life indoors. He seems to be housetrained, settles calmly in his crate, and gets along with both dogs and cats. While he is expected to do well with kids too, he may benefit from a patient family ready to help him build confidence. He walks nicely on a leash but will appreciate some assistance when getting into the car. If you’re ready to help this gentle soul trust the good things in life, Baxter would be grateful to meet you.
