Augie is a 4-year-old French Bulldog who comes with a unique set of needs. When you first meet him, he’ll wear a muzzle—not because he’s cute in it, but because he may feel the urge to bite if given the chance. It's not personal; Augie just doesn’t trust newcomers and perceives shelter workers as his protectors. Augie seeks a very specific living arrangement. Ideally, he would thrive in a one-person home without other pets. While he can be around them, he doesn't do well with long-term coexistence. He can be successfully cared for by two dedicated individuals with clear responsibilities, but the focus must be on building trust with him first. Guests in your home won’t be friends to Augie. He should be kept securely in a crate or a separate space during visits, as he prefers to avoid interaction entirely. Outside, Augie requires a minimum of a ten-foot bubble—no strangers, no surprise cuddles, and definitely no children running to greet him. However, with time, Augie may very well choose you as his whole world, becoming your steadfast companion and protector. He is crate-trained and house-trained, thriving under predictable routines and clear boundaries. Augie is not an easy adopt, but for an experienced, committed individual willing to embrace him for who he is, he could be the perfect little friend—and he’s waiting just for you.
