About Chevy
Chevy is about 18 months old and weighs 43 pounds; he’s an Australian Shepherd who found himself in a small rural shelter in Texas. Fortunately, one of our rescue partners stepped in, rescuing him before he could be euthanized for space. Chevy is a sweet, playful boy, but he’s still shy around new people. Having another well-balanced, friendly dog at home is crucial for him. He’s learning to trust and now approaches his foster for pets and to hopefully snag some treats from her pockets. This goofy guy loves playing with plush toys and has a knack for stealing blankets from his fellow furry friends. Though he may be a bit awkward in understanding dog body language, he’s eager to learn. Chevy enjoys Kongs, puzzle toys, and anything that hides a treat. He’s potty trained but needs supervision in new environments, so consistency is key. Chevy thrives in quieter settings like suburban, rural, or mountainous areas, away from busy city life. He prefers a secure fenced yard and would benefit from an adopter who can be home often. While big movements can scare him, he might do well with a calm, dog-savvy child aged 12+. Chevy is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, chipped, and heartworm negative. Watching him come out of his shell is rewarding, and he’s ready to blossom in a loving, patient home.
