Meet Davidson, a 3-year-old Labrador mix affectionately known as Davie. Weighing in at 53 pounds, he is a gentle soul who is slowly learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. Davie came to us underweight and with the emotional scars of past abuse. He needs a patient adopter who can help build his confidence. While he can be timid and easily startled, he has shown no aggression—only the fear that stems from his past. Calm guidance and positive reinforcement work wonders for him. He's particularly apprehensive around men but has made progress with his foster dad, allowing pets and learning to go outside on a leash. Recently, Davie has begun to wag his tail and even do a little gallop when he feels brave. He shows friendly curiosity towards the foster puppies in his home, happily sniffing their noses through the pen. He's crate trained and has been accident-free. Given his sensitive nature, Davie will thrive in a secure environment, so his new home should be diligent with leashes and gates. With kindness and patience, he can continue to blossom into the loving companion he is meant to be.
