About Winston
Meet Winston, affectionately known as "The Grasshopper" for his long legs and joyful bounces during playtime. This approximately 14- to 16-month-old Lab/Coonhound mix weighs around 60 pounds and is pure energy and love. Winston has a great affinity for children and plays well with other dogs. He approaches cats with curiosity instead of aggression, so he'll need some gentle guidance on how to socialize with them properly. Fully house and crate trained, Winston takes comfort in his crate, retreating there willingly when told. He’s not only an enthusiastic playmate but also enjoys down time snuggling with a favorite bone. Though he’s still in his teenage phase and mastering some manners, he’s eager to learn and thrives on food-based training. Winston gets quite excited when guests arrive, showcasing his joyful personality, though he's working on more relaxed greetings. As he learns to walk politely on a leash, he may pull and bark at squirrels, driven by excitement rather than aggression. With consistent positive reinforcement, Winston's reactivity is improving, and he’s making great strides in learning impulse control. An active, patient household would be ideal for him, where he can channel his energy and training into something constructive. If you’re ready for a fun-loving and devoted companion, Winston is here hoping to join your family. Think you can provide the loving home he deserves?
