Meet Copper, a delightful 7-year-old neutered Red Merle Australian Shepherd available for adoption in Ontario, CA. Weighing 60 pounds, he’s a cuddle enthusiast who seeks companionship and prefers being around his people rather than alone. Copper is crate trained and fully house-trained, often sleeping soundly through the night. Although he may let out a little howl when you leave, it's just his way of saying he’d rather join you. Copper enjoys long walks, happily covering up to three miles and embracing the adventure wholeheartedly. He’s proven to be an excellent travel companion, taking in the sights or napping while on the go. He's also shown a brave side, wading into water without hesitation at the Columbia Riverwalk. While thunderstorms and loud noises like fireworks aren’t his favorites, he finds comfort snuggled beside you during those moments. Copper isn’t your typical rough-and-tumble pup; he thrives best with calm companions like smaller dogs or as an only pet. He currently shares his home with a cat and is comfortable around children aged 8 and older. He knows basic commands such as sit, shake, crate, and down, but might need a tasty treat to encourage him into the crate during the day. His ideal home would be one where someone is around most of the day, allowing him to be your devoted co-pilot for car rides, walking buddy, or simply a couch companion. Copper has been receiving excellent care for skin issues, which are improving with a special diet and regular grooming.
