Meet Banks! A spirited seven-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie mix currently in Amherst, MA. With a striking merle coat and weighing 38 pounds, Banks stands proudly on three legs. His heart and determination overshadow any physical challenges and he shows that every day! After an accident that resulted in a rear leg amputation, he hasn’t let that slow him down. In fact, he might just be the fastest tripod you'll ever encounter! Banks dashes after a tennis ball with incredible speed, runs like a pro, and always returns with those bright eyes that say, "Again?" Playing fetch is his favorite pastime, and he needs daily exercise, making him a joy to spend time with. Brilliantly trained, Banks thrives on structure and confidently responds to a variety of commands including sit, down, stay, heel, and more. Smart and food motivated, he’s eager to learn. He’s affectionate, leaning close to his humans with deep devotion. With a generally friendly demeanor towards dogs and adults, he does need an experienced pet parent to help manage some resource guarding tendencies, especially around food. Loud noises might unsettle him, so providing calm leadership is essential. Banks is not suitable for homes with cats or small animals due to his strong prey drive. He seeks a loving home with ample outdoor space, no young children, and dedicated caregivers who understand the needs of working or agility breeds. Vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and crate trained, Banks is ready to start a new chapter with the right family.
