Meet Yote! Yote, short for Coyote, is a 27-pound scruffy terrier mix in search of his forever home—a safe haven where he can truly be a dog. Though he’s believed to be an Irish Terrier mix, Yote carries a past that makes him cautious. After surviving a coyote attack and ending up at animal control, he found his way to our rescue, but we know that trust doesn’t come easy for him. Initially frightened, Yote found comfort in his crate. These days, he’s growing more confident. His foster reports that he now seeks her company, quietly choosing to sit beside her. It’s clear he wants to bond; he just needs some time and gentle nudges to get there. Yote is slowly learning the world is a safe place. He still hesitates at doorways and prefers cautious exploration on a leash. Each new experience is a small win for him. He gets along well with other dogs and would thrive with a calm canine companion. Given his timid nature, a quiet home without young children would allow him to build his confidence at his own pace. Yote isn’t going to steal the spotlight right away, but he will quietly win your heart as you observe him learning to trust. He needs a family who can provide patience and consistency, and in return, you’ll get to witness him blossom into the companion he’s meant to be.
