About Astrid
Astrid is a stunning Border Collie mix with a remarkable story of resilience. At around 2 years old, she has already faced more challenges than many dogs do in a lifetime. Once a feral dog, Astrid survived against all odds after contracting distemper, a serious disease that took her off the streets and into rescue. Now, she's a loving and affectionate companion who enjoys meeting new faces and soaking up all the attention. Astrid has a gentle sweetness that is simply unforgettable, along with those heart-melting eyes. Though she has a permanent neurological tic resulting from her past, it doesn’t impede her joy in life. She thrives on affection and is playful, but potential adopters should be aware of her past and the possibility of future medical needs related to distemper. Astrid is house-trained and crate-trained, but she still has fears to overcome. Walking on a leash can be tough for her, and she often freezes or bolts when anxious, making a securely fenced yard a must for her safety. She loves canine buddies and would flourish in a home with a friendly dog, but she'd prefer to be the boss and might not mesh well with dominant female dogs. Due to her enthusiasm, a cat-free home would suit her best. Ultimately, Astrid is searching for a patient and understanding family that will celebrate her journey. In return, she'll offer an unwavering loyalty and love that stems from her thankful heart. She's not after a perfect home; just one that values the little victories along the way. Start your journey with Astrid and make her next chapter a happy one!
