Meet Ginger: Professional Stuffie Wrestler. Amateur Sunshine Collector. Full-Time Good Girl. If resilience had tight little poodle curls, slept upside down like she'd been dropped from the ceiling, and insisted on body slamming stuffed animals twice her size... you'd get Ginger. Miss Ginger (also known as GiGi, Ginger Bean, Ginger Snap, and approximately 47 other nicknames) is a 5 year old Toy Poodle with what appears to be a dash of Dachshund sprinkled in for good measure. She's got the cutest little short legs, a slightly longer body, and enough personality packed into her eight pounds to power a small city. Ginger's story didn't start out very fair. She spent her early years as a puppy mill mama before being rescued. During her first veterinary exam, everyone discovered something heartbreaking: Ginger had been living with a broken pelvis. No one knows exactly how it happened or how long she'd been enduring it, but Albert's Dog Lounge stepped in to give this tiny girl the time, love, and rehabilitation she deserved. By now, her pelvis has healed as much as it's likely going to. She may develop arthritis as she ages, but don't bother telling Ginger she's supposed to feel sorry for herself. She's far too busy throwing herself into epic wrestling matches with stuffed animals, supervising couch naps, and making every day look like the best day ever. She's basically sunshine with curls. Ginger has officially left the puppy chaos behind but kept all the fun parts. She's playful without being wild, affectionate without being clingy, and has absolutely mastered the art of quality napping. During the day she's happy snoozing beside you while you work. At night she sleeps peacefully in her little bed next to yours like the tiny princess she knows she is. And when she sleeps? Picture a fluffy little poodle completely upside down with all four legs pointed in different directions. It's spectacular. She's wonderful with adults, has done beautifully meeting children (with gentle supervision for the little ones), happily coexists with cats, and seems very interested in making dog friends. Unfortunately, because of her injury recovery, she hasn't been able to enjoy many playdates yet. She did repeatedly invite her 15 year old foster poodle sibling to play. The invitation was... respectfully declined. Ginger remains optimistic that somewhere out there is another small dog who appreciates the fine art of toy wrestling. House training is still a work in progress. She absolutely understands that outside is for potty breaks but occasionally forgets that the rest of the house isn't also an acceptable option. Fireworks set her back a bit, so she'll need a family that's patient, consistent, and willing to celebrate the little victories. The good news? She keeps her couch, bed, and playpen perfectly clean, so she's clearly getting there. When visitors arrive, Ginger announces them with a few barks because every respectable tiny dog believes doorbell duty is a sacred responsibility. After that? She's happy to collect pets and admiration. As for her hobbies? Wrestling stuffed animals larger than herself. Accepting cheese as payment for excellent behavior. Perfecting the couch nap. Looking forward to her very first glorious Wisconsin fall because someone this cheerful is absolutely going to lose her mind over crunchy leaves. Fashion-wise, she's convinced cozy sweaters were invented specifically for curly little dogs with short legs. And honestly? She's probably right. Ginger is for her spay and dental in the near future, so she'll soon have both a healthy smile and an official "ready for forever" status. What Ginger needs most isn't a perfect home. She needs a family that sees beyond the broken pelvis and notices the dog who never stopped believing life was worth getting excited about. Because despite everything she's been through, Ginger still greets each day like the opening notes of Walking on Sunshine. And if that's not something worth falling in love with...
