Meet Rocky Smith. Rocky joined North Texas Australian Shepherd Rescue after a troubling hoarding situation where 38 dogs were rescued from poor conditions. While we may not know everything he's been through, one thing is clear: his past doesn’t define his future. This is just one chapter in his life, and now he's looking forward to the best ones yet. If you want a low-maintenance companion, Rocky is your guy. This affectionate boy loves to be close to his person, whether it's snuggling up while you watch TV or sitting beside you while you work. He’s already mastered the essentials: Rocky is potty trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. He enjoys leisurely outdoor strolls but is just as content curling up on the couch, soaking up the calm atmosphere. He adores his naps and is easygoing—qualities that are hard to resist. Rocky is a little cautious when meeting new people, particularly unfamiliar men, but he becomes more confident with patience, kindness, and some treats. Despite his initial hesitation, he’s a curious soul eager to trust and explore. He does well with other dogs, preferring to share space rather than engage in rough play. Feeding him separately is recommended, as he can be picky around his food bowl. He hasn’t yet been introduced to cats or children, but his gentle temperament suggests that thoughtful introductions could work well. At around 33 pounds, Rocky is a perfect medium-sized furry companion. He'd adjust well to various living situations, but a quieter home would truly allow him to thrive, giving him love, cozy naps, and quality time.
