Although she is currently on a special diet to manage her health, Fig is both spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. Currently living in Rochester, MN, her sweet disposition makes her a wonderful companion for the right home.
About Fig
Fig has a remarkable story that’s waiting for a happy ending. Once living comfortably in a home, she found herself abandoned in a carrier with her soft, blue pet bed during a cold January morning in 2021. Fortunately, she was quickly discovered and taken to animal control, which led her to a foster home with Camp Companion. There, it was determined she was spayed and healthy, and Fig was adopted. However, after some time, she was returned due to issues stemming from significant weight gain that impacted her litter box habits and grooming. Now back in her original foster home, Fig's challenges became clear. She had become extremely obese and needed careful handling. Following veterinary checks confirmed that her weight gain was due to overfeeding, not underlying health issues. Fig is currently on a strict, moderate diet that includes only wet food, specifically Fancy Feast Pate, to help manage her weight effectively. Despite her past, Fig is a loving cat who enjoys companionship—she’ll nudge your hand for petting and values soft beds, catnip, and quiet conversations. Fig is friendly with other cats and prefers their company, although she communicates clearly if they invade her space. While she may not play much, she enjoys being close. She can adapt to a calm dog and would do well with respectful children. If her adopted family commits to her dietary needs, she thrives and uses her litter box consistently.
