About Big Boy
Meet Big Boy — a stunning gray gentleman who embodies his name with a heart as big as his physique. He was found in a community cat colony, struggling to survive among other cats that saw him as an outsider, resulting in a painful abscess and subsequent illness. A compassionate caregiver recognized Big Boy's friendly demeanor and brought him to a shelter, even assisting with his care. However, litter box issues led to his return to the colony, where he faced threats and illness. It was later discovered that Big Boy is FIV+, which closed many doors for him. Fortunately, his caregiver shared his story, prompting one of our board members to offer sponsorship and rescue him. Now at FieldHaven, Big Boy is thriving! He's incredibly sweet, social, and ready to be part of a loving home. Contrary to common misconceptions, FIV+ cats can lead healthy lives, especially with routine care. Recently, Big Boy was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), but with proper management, he can maintain a happy quality of life. That involves a special diet, plenty of water, and some monitoring. Big Boy continues to be affectionate and social, always seeking affection from each person he meets. He’s not giving up, and neither are we. All he needs now is a forever home where he can continue to thrive. We're here to discuss his care and answer any questions.
