About Ziggy
Meet Ziggy! This handsome 4-year-old, 30 lb Cattle Dog mix has had quite a journey. Initially rescued from a high-kill shelter in Houston, Texas, he found himself back in the shelter after being lost again. Luckily, he made his way to Colorado, where he hoped to find his forever home. Sadly, he has returned to our rescue because of an allergy issue in his most recent adoptive family. Despite the upheaval in his life, Ziggy remains a sweet, affectionate boy. While he starts off a bit shy with new people, he quickly warms up and loves to cuddle on the couch or follow his human around. Ziggy thrives in a yard where he can zoom and play, and he’s become quite the pro at catching treats mid-air! Ziggy is friendly with other dogs, playing well in doggy daycare and with his foster's resident dog. However, he can still be reactive while on a leash around unfamiliar dogs, so he’s been learning with a certified behavior consultant. He's comfortable in a basket muzzle, making walks easier for both him and his handler. Ziggy prefers a quieter home where someone is around most of the time, as he craves routine and consistent companionship. He's fully potty trained, has excellent house manners, and can be left loose without any issues. Although he’s blind in one eye, it doesn’t hinder him at all. Ziggy's perfect forever family will have a securely fenced yard and an understanding of his need for a little time to trust.
