About Boots

Meet Boots! Named for his adorable white-tipped paws, this charming boy is a shepherd/spitz mix with a stunning warm gray coat. At about one year old and weighing around 50 pounds, Boots has a playful spirit. His journey started in Houston, TX, where he found himself on the euthanasia list at BARC just two days after becoming a stray due to overcrowding. Thankfully, he was given a second chance. With time and patience, he is slowly shedding his fearful past and embracing the joy of life. Now in a foster home in St. Paul, Minnesota, Boots is learning about love and security. He interacts well with other dogs, understanding social cues effortlessly, and would thrive with a confident canine companion or as the only dog. Boots is sweet, gentle, and affectionate once he trusts you, although he can be shy around new people. This clever boy is motivated by food, eager to learn, and has picked up on basic commands just by watching his foster siblings. Boots enjoys his walks, loves to play, and may show some prey-driven behavior towards squirrels and rabbits but knows how to settle down for long naps afterward. Given his energy and intelligence, he would thrive best in a home with a securely fenced yard, offering ample mental and physical stimulation. Boots has been around cats without any issues, and his gentle nature makes him a good candidate for respectful children, especially with proper introductions. Having come so far from being abandoned, he now seeks a caring, patient family to help him gain confidence and continue discovering the joys of life together. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
