About Gretchen

Meet Gretchen, an adorable Doberman mix puppy. She arrived at the shelter as a stray, so her past is a mystery. Staff have given her plenty of love and attention, and they've discovered her fondness for frozen kongs and food puzzles. Initially, she comes across as a bit shy but quickly warms up to affection. Gretchen enjoys her toys and has been surprisingly tidy for a puppy. Her new family should be ready to help her learn all the essential puppy skills: house training, basic manners, and socialization. While we don’t have any history of her with kids or cats, any resident dogs will need to meet her at the shelter first. Gretchen is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love, and she can join your family after her spay surgery. Gretchen is currently in Santa Cruz, CA, and the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation offers a great training voucher with every adoption, helping new pet owners connect with positive reinforcement trainers. Make sure to visit during the shelter's open hours! This little one is ready to find her forever home!
