About Barkley
Barkley has just two weeks to find a forever home or a foster. Last fall, he was #2 on a shelter euthanasia list, and while he escaped once, time is running out. If he loses his current foster home by the end of July, he might be returned to a shelter, and we fear there won’t be another chance for him. This sweet, well-behaved shepherd mix deserves much more than his current situation. He’s friendly with people and most dogs, playful, medium-sized (about knee height, weighing between 35-40 pounds), and enjoys long walks, playing in the snow, and chewing on rawhide alternatives. Barkley is fully house-trained; he has never rummaged through the garbage or stolen food. He truly is a wonderful companion. Although he’s thriving in a foster home, he is not cat-friendly, so unfortunately, he can’t stay with his current foster family. Barkley has a penchant for chasing squirrels and other small wildlife, so he will need an adopter who can help redirect this behavior and continue his training. Working with a trainer would be beneficial. No dog is perfect, but Barkley has so much love to give to the right person. Currently in Stamford, CT, Barkley is ready to meet his potential adopters. We can even arrange transport for the right family, so please don’t let distance deter you. Sharing Barkley’s story might help him find the family he’s been waiting for. What are you waiting for?
