About Victor

Meet Victor! Victor is a one-year-old, 20-pound mixed-breed with a charming, fox-like face. While the shelter has him labeled as a Chihuahua mix, his looks suggest a tiny German Shepherd, though more than anything, he is just an adorable little fox! Victor is gentle and sweet, often a bit shy when meeting new people. However, once he settles in, his playful and goofy side shines through. He loves toys, enjoys frolicking with dogs of similar size, and has proven to be a potty-training superstar in his foster home with no accidents. A heads-up: keep your Crocs and flip-flops out of reach—Victor has a knack for stealing footwear! Victor’s journey began in Texas, where he faced a tough start. After being hit by a car, he didn’t receive immediate treatment, leading his spine to heal on its own. Remarkably, he is now able to walk, run, and play just like any other young dog, although he does have a slight hunchback, inspiring his name—Victor, named after Victor Hugo, the author of The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He also has a condition called paraphimosis, which means his penis may remain partially exposed. Following a corrective surgery, it doesn’t cause him pain and does not hinder his quality of life. If needed, he can comfortably wear a belly band, sweater, or shirt for protection. Because of his past, Victor thrives in a home with a securely fenced yard. While he isn’t prone to escape and walks beautifully on a leash, sounds from passing cars can still unsettle him. A fenced yard would provide a safe haven for him to play and gain confidence away from traffic stress. Victor is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives, and ready to find a loving family who accepts him for who he is. As a special-needs pup, his adoption fee has been generously waived. He just needs a patient, understanding home to see past his imperfections and recognize the delightful dog he truly is.
