Joe is looking for a special adopter who can give him the patience and encouragement he needs as he transitions into his new home.
About Mighty Joe
Mighty Joe, a charming Miniature Pinscher, is about 12 years old and weighs around 22 pounds. This lovable companion is a delightful mix of chill and adventurous. Whether you're out on a hike, enjoying a beach day, or relaxing with a book, Joe is perfectly content to accompany you—or nap by your side. Social and friendly, Joe greets everyone with an energetic tail wag. He does have some quirks that you'll need to navigate, especially when it comes to putting on his harness or unexpected touches. After X-rays revealed arthritis in both shoulders, particularly severe in the right, we found he's also carrying a past injury—a BB pellet in his left femur. Thankfully, this doesn't cause pain, but it helps explain some of his behavior, like nipping when startled. Joe is currently on medication that has made a significant improvement in his comfort. While he can be reactive to other dogs on a leash and prefers smaller, calm canine companions, he would likely flourish as the sole pet. To support his transition, Joe's adoption includes a $1,000 stipend for a private trainer who can assist with his ongoing behavior support. Mighty Joe came to us from the Bradshaw Animal Shelter and has now completed heartworm treatment, giving him a clean bill of health.
