About Duke
Duke is a lovable big guy in search of a forever family. He came to the shelter after the senior dog in his previous home couldn't keep up with his youthful spirit. Duke recently enjoyed a "Paw Pass," where he showed off his affectionate and social nature, proving to be a perfect companion who loves being part of a family. With kids, Duke absolutely shines. He was particularly bonded to a child under 10 in his last home, often sleeping in their room and playing together. During his recent outings, he demonstrated his friendly disposition around children aged 2, 6, and 11, making it clear that he's a family-oriented pup who revels in being around his humans. Despite his playful energy that enjoys regular walks and active play, Duke knows how to settle down well. He doesn't even need crating when you're away. He loves car rides and is a perfect gentleman on the leash. While walking, Duke passes other dogs calmly and has made multiple friends in playgroups at the shelter. He's a curious little guy, observant about his surroundings—not guarding, just looking for new friends. His cleverness is evident; he once figured out how to open a child gate just to reach his people! Duke will need a refresher on housebreaking, but he’s food-motivated, which will help during training. This sweet boy thrives on love, walks, and playtime. He prefers to stay close to his human family rather than being left outside for long stretches.
