About Tonka

Meet Tonka! This big, lovable Akita has a goofy personality and an abundance of affection. He enjoys long walks, frozen Kongs, puzzle toys, and squeaky toys that keep his mind stimulated. When Tonka gets excited, his kisses and enthusiasm shine, and he's making great strides in learning his manners every day. However, like many Akitas, he requires an experienced, breed-savvy adopter who understands his unique traits and needs. Tonka is looking for an active family with a securely fenced yard where he can run and enjoy supervised outdoor play. Since he has a strong prey drive, especially towards squirrels and cats, introductions to other pets must be done carefully. He may thrive best as the only dog in the home, and any new dog interactions should be slow. Tonka’s ideal family will appreciate his silly spirit and commit to continuing his training. With patience and understanding, you'll gain a loyal companion who brings plenty of joy and entertainment to your life. Tonka was born in February 2025 and is being fostered in Fort Worth, TX.
