Meet Jasper! Jasper is a soulful three-and-a-half-year-old Border Collie and Rottweiler mix currently in Amherst, MA. At 70 pounds, he sports a stunning merle coat that complements his calm, loving nature. This gentle companion embodies the spirit of a wise friend and will happily settle by your side, following you room to room just to be near. He thrives in peaceful surroundings and will bond deeply with his loved ones. Jasper enjoys the company of children, particularly calm or older ones who understand how to treat him with respect. He can become uneasy with loud or high-energy play, so a serene atmosphere will help him flourish. He doesn’t require much to be happy—just a soft spot to relax, the reassuring presence of his caregiver, and perhaps a treat puzzle to keep him mentally stimulated. Fully house-trained and crate-trained, he’s fine being left alone, making him ideal for someone with a flexible schedule. While he doesn’t need intense exercise, he does appreciate leisurely walks where he can explore at his own pace. His greatest joy? Being in the same space as you, where he can soak up your presence. Jasper has had some past trauma with unfamiliar dogs, leading to a strong reactivity around them. While he may bark or lunge when encountering new dogs, he's shown he can get along with familiar dogs in controlled environments. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, where he feels secure and valued. Loud noises can startle him, but with reassurance, he settles back into comfort.
