Meet Potato, a lovely girl perfectly named for her spud-like physique. At around 12 years old, she came to us after her elderly owner could no longer care for her. Although she arrived weighing 45 lbs, she is now a healthier 35 lbs and seeks a loving family to help maintain her healthy lifestyle. Potato is accustomed to having someone around throughout the day, so she thrives best in a home where someone is retired or works from home. She forms strong bonds with her humans and may experience some separation anxiety when left alone. Currently in a foster home with both children and other dogs, she does great but can be a bit of a bully around smaller dogs. She enjoys her meals a little too much and would do better being fed separately. Potato is house trained and leash trained, relishing her walks and getting excited when she sees other dogs. While she’s not fond of her kennel, she behaves well when left out and is an excellent car companion. She has never been fostered with cats, but we believe she would get along fine. Confident and friendly, she approaches visitors for affection. Be prepared, though; she does bark and isn’t suited for apartment living due to her anxiety when alone. Recently, Potato had a dental cleaning and senior bloodwork, both of which showed age-appropriate results. She may have some hearing loss, but it doesn’t hinder her daily life.
