About Declan
Meet Declan, a resilient dog who has overcome tremendous challenges. After being rescued from a kill shelter on his last day, Declan faced severe trauma, including the loss of his left eye from what appears to be a gunshot or blunt force injury. Initially aggressive towards others, he has made remarkable progress in the three years he's spent with the Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation, learning to trust and connect with his caregivers. Declan would thrive best with a single woman who understands his protective nature once he bonds with someone. This big, strong German Shepherd prefers an indoor-outdoor lifestyle, patrolling his surroundings to ensure everything is safe. However, he needs a secure environment free from unfamiliar people and animals. While Declan can walk nicely alongside other dogs, he isn’t keen on sharing his new life or human companions with other animals. Adoption requires a patient, confident person committed to multiple visits and a home check to ensure he never faces abandonment again. Ready to find out more about this courageous dog?
