About April

Meet April! April is a stunning 2.5-year-old long-haired German Shepherd, possibly with a touch of Rough Collie in her mix. After enduring harsh outdoor conditions and recovering from a severe hind leg and hip injury, she is now ready to find a forever family. Thanks to PAWS New England, she received life-changing surgery and compassionate care from her foster family. Today, her happy, playful, and affectionate personality shines brightly. Deeply loyal, April bonds closely with her people. She craves affection, eagerly accepting belly rubs, head scratches, and praises. This clever girl is an excellent alert barker and will notify you of any visitors to your home. One of her favorite activities is car rides; she loves to keep an eye on the surroundings, often barking at curious sights. April currently shares her space with four large dogs, getting along well with her canine friends. While she has yet to be tested with cats, she has met small dogs and did well. She is fully house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. Cookie-cuddling is her preference, usually opting to snuggle on the couch with her furry buddy Andy. With her energy, she's poised to become a fantastic hiking or jogging companion once her strength returns. April's gentle and empathetic nature makes her a joy to be around, and she’s already a favorite at her vet clinic. April will thrive in a loving home that appreciates her intelligence and energy, ideally one without young children or with older, dog-savvy kids. After all she’s overcome, she’s ready for the happy ending she truly deserves. All she needs is a family to cherish her as fiercely as she will love them. Ready to fall in love?
