Meet Boots! Named for his adorable white-tipped paws, he’s a shepherd/spitz mix with a stunning warm gray coat. Although he’s around 12–18 months old and weighs about 50 pounds, this handsome boy still has plenty of playful puppy energy. Boots has an inspiring story. Rescued from the euthanasia list in Houston, TX, he faced significant challenges as a terrified stray. Thankfully, he got a second chance and is now in a loving foster home in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he’s learning what it means to be a cherished house dog. With proper introductions, he gets along well with other dogs and shows promise as a social pet. He would thrive in a home where he can either have a confident canine companion or be the sole pet. This sweet and gentle guy can be shy at first, especially around new people. However, once he trusts you, his affectionate personality truly comes through. His playful nibbles are a fun way he shows affection, and his foster mom is teaching him appropriate ways to express that love. An eager learner, Boots is food motivated and has already picked up basic commands by observing his foster siblings. He needs ongoing training and supervision to help him continue developing into the remarkable dog he’s meant to be. Boots enjoys walks and playtime, but he also knows how to relax and take long naps after a good adventure. He has experience being around cats and might be good with respectful children, provided they understand his gentle nature.
