Meet Luke, an urgent case in need of a loving home. This 4-year-old Corgi and Australian Cattle Dog mix is currently at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter, where he has been since June 19, 2026. Luke has developed an upper respiratory infection and needs a safe environment to recover quickly. Time is of the essence, as he is at risk of euthanasia due to overcrowding in the shelter. Despite his challenging situation, Luke is a friendly and dedicated companion waiting for someone to give him a second chance. He has a medium build and a short coat with a mix of yellow and white coloring. While he hasn't yet found his perfect home, he is looking for someone to help him heal and thrive. Please note that Luke is not house trained yet, and he is not altered. The adoption fee has been waived, which means there's nothing stopping you from bringing him home! As a note, while the Companion Animal Protection Society works alongside the shelter to save at-risk dogs, interested adopters will need to contact them directly.
