About Tonka
Meet Tonka, a striking black panther kitty who journeyed here from a shelter on the east side of Michigan. Along with several other cats, he arrived due to overcrowding—a challenge many shelters face today. Despite his tough name, Tonka is a gentle soul. Out of the group he arrived with, he's the shyest. He craves affection and responds positively to gentle pets, though he’s understandably a bit nervous after his transition from the streets to different shelters and now to Grand Rapids. With some time and patience, his friendly nature will shine through. It’s essential for his future adopter to understand his need for a calm, reassuring environment. Tonka gets along well with other cats, making him a great addition to a friendly, multi-cat home. He would be happiest with a single person, a couple, or a family with older, respectful children. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Tonka's estimated birthdate is May 28, 2025, and while his adoption fee is waived, we ask that interested adopters live within an hour’s drive of Grand Rapids. If you're interested in welcoming this sweet kitty into your home, don't hesitate to apply!
