Meet Suzie Q! This delightful young lady is looking for her forever home and is currently being cared for by her rescuer, Keith. He’s getting to know her personality while providing a loving environment. Suzie Q was found by Keith during his commute one morning. They shared a moment and, after some coaxing, she allowed him to pick her up. Their bond blossomed over a cupcake. Suzie has a sweet temperament and gets along well with other dogs. She is learning to overcome some food aggression and resource guarding, likely due to her time living on the streets. As she realizes she has consistent access to food and care, she is improving daily. She can be shy indoors, particularly around other dogs, but outside she becomes playful and energetic. Suzie seems to feel more comfortable with women than men. While she’s still working on responding to her name, she enjoys cuddling and being petted. Sudden noises or movements startle her; she often seeks a hiding spot. At night, you’ll find her snuggled either on the bed or on a dog bed nearby. Suzie is still learning to navigate the dog door, and though she has occasional accidents, she’s making progress. Excitement urination sometimes happens when she’s overwhelmed, but it's a behavior being gently addressed. Keith estimates she’s between 6 months and a year old and she’s been receiving proper baths and flea treatment since her rescue. Scheduled for a wellness exam and vaccinations, Suzie might be spayed soon, too. She loves stuffed toys, treats, and going to the dog park. Suzie Q is currently around 40 pounds and while she’s gained some weight, she’s still a little lean.
