About Shamu

Meet Shamu, a vibrant young dog who thrives on structure and connection. He's an energetic companion who loves adventure and learns quickly, especially when treats are involved. Shamu has been excelling in his training, picking up commands like sit, paw, and recall. While he's enthusiastic and may jump around, staying calm around him helps him settle down and focus. Walking Shamu requires a bit of attention; he does best with a harness but can get excited and pull. He adores games like fetch and thrives on playtime, though he can be possessive with toys—so it's important to practice good trading habits. Shamu's interactions with other dogs range from neutral to playful, but he prefers calmer pals. He's also shown great manners with children, making him a fantastic friend for families, especially those who understand his energetic nature. Despite the difficulties of shelter life, Shamu has made wonderful progress. He’s learned to sit politely for his harness and behaves well during car rides. If you're searching for an active, loyal companion who loves to train, adventure, and show affection, look no further. Shamu is ready for his fresh start with a family that appreciates his spirited personality. All of our adoptable pets are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Ready to meet Shamu? Bring a valid ID to our Northside shelters any day from 1-6pm. Grab a leash, collar, and a durable chew toy when you adopt!
