About Aspen

Meet Aspen. She never had the chance to learn that the world is safe. At just 9 months old, Aspen and her siblings were surrendered after spending their lives in a backyard with minimal human interaction. Because of this, she is shy and still figuring out how to trust people. Over the last three months in foster care, she has shown slow but meaningful progress. Aspen is crate trained and house trained, and she’s starting to feel comfortable in her surroundings. However, she remains fearful of new people and loud noises. A patient, rescue-experienced adopter is essential for her, someone who understands that trust is built over time, not given freely. While she may never greet newcomers with wagging tails, she deserves a loving home where she can feel safe. Aspen benefits from the company of other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident, playful medium-to-large dog. Her ideal environment includes a calm, low-traffic setting with a secure yard. While she may not seek attention, she is beginning to express affection by gently pawing at her foster mom when she stops petting her — her way of saying she appreciates care. Despite her aloofness, Aspen enjoys her cozy spot on the couch. For anyone willing to invest the time to help her discover safety and trust, watching her progress can be incredibly rewarding.
