About Morty

Meet Morty, a lively 2-year-old male Dachshund who weighs around 17 pounds. He came to Smidget Rescue after losing his owner, but he has bounced back with an outgoing personality that's impossible to resist. Morty is a charming piebald fellow who loves nothing more than to snuggle on your lap. He's adjusting well in his foster home, getting along with two cats and other small dogs with ease. He’s still mastering house training and has had a few accidents while learning the layout, but he is improving daily. His energy demands an active home with a fenced yard to run and play in. Frisbees and tennis balls are particular favorites, and his impressive athleticism surprises many. While he shows some protective behaviors, particularly with new people, he’s very trainable and motivated by treats. With proper introductions, he warms up quickly to those he trusts. Given his tendency to chase cats and react to strangers, he may not be the best fit for families with children. Ready to learn more about Morty or meet him? Reach out today!
