About Ranger
Meet Ranger! This spirited two-and-a-half-year-old Australian Cattle Dog is currently in Prineville, OR, and brings a vibrant burst of loyalty wrapped in his striking blue merle coat. Weighing in at 60 pounds, Ranger is a lively fella who's always ready for his next adventure! House-trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccinations, he’s a good boy at heart. While he can be wary of new people, especially men, a toss of one of his favorite toys and a couple of treats will reveal his playful side. With a little patience and some structured play, Ranger quickly warms up and forms strong bonds with his humans. Ranger already knows commands like sit, stay, lie down, shake, quiet, and drop it. He learns quickly, especially when food is involved, as he’s highly motivated by treats. You'll often see him trying to sneak a morsel if within reach, which adds to his charming and mischievous nature. Fetch is his favorite pastime—balls and sticks are treasures to him, while frisbees don’t capture his interest. He requires one to two hours of daily play in a large, fenced yard to keep him engaged. Without enough activity, boredom can lead to some whining, but he absolutely thrives with the right routine. Ranger would do best as the only pet in a loving home. He is selective with dogs and does not get along with cats. This energetic boy is eager to find a caring environment where he can run and a family that enjoys an active lifestyle. Could Ranger be the playful new family member you've been waiting for? If you're interested in providing him with a loving home, please email adopt@joyfulpets.com for more information. Ranger will remain with his current family until a suitable new home is found. He is open to long-distance adoptions—love knows no distance! Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
