About Duke
Meet Duke, a remarkable German Shepherd. Found on the Conotton Trail with a slip lead but no collar, he hopped into the vehicle of those who rescued him, ready for adventure. Currently at the Harrison County Dog Pound in Cadiz, OH, Duke is patiently waiting for a forever family that never came for him. Though someone clearly devoted time to him, Duke is now ready to shine. He knows several commands, walks well on a leash, and possesses the manners that any owner would be proud of—though he might give a friendly jump when he greets you. With a passion for playing ball, you’d swear he’s training for the big leagues. He’ll dash after the ball, return it, and eagerly place it in your hand, though sometimes he leaves it at your feet as if to challenge you to a little game. Duke has a gentle, affectionate nature and is more focused on his human pals and his beloved tennis ball than on other dogs. He greets everyone with a big smile, enthusiasm, and maybe a happy, slobbery kiss. Duke is a striking black German Shepherd and has a sweet disposition that’s ready to fill your home with joy. Just a heads-up: he sheds quite a bit, so if dog hair isn't your thing, a stuffed animal might be a better fit. GSD experience is preferred, along with a good veterinary reference.
