Hi there - my name is Zuri, and I'm a gentle little soul looking for a patient person to love. I can be pretty shy when meeting new people or exploring new places, so I like to take my time getting comfortable. But once I learn I'm safe with you, I'll love you forever. I'm incredibly gentle in everything I do - from the way I take treats to the soft little kisses I love giving. I'm the kind of pup who shows affection quietly and sweetly, and once I trust you, I become the most loyal companion you could ask for. I also happen to be intersex, which means I was born with reproductive anatomy that didn't fit typical male or female categories. During my surgery, veterinarians discovered and removed both ovarian and testicular tissue. Dogs with intersex traits can live perfectly normal, happy, healthy lives - and I'm no exception! I do wonderfully with other dogs, but I would do best in a home without cats because I have a pretty high prey drive around them. Tiny humans can make me a little nervous too, especially if they move quickly or come on too strong. Because of that, I'd do best in a home with older kiddos who understand how to respect the boundaries of a shy dog and let me warm up at my own pace. What matters most about me isn't how I was born - it's how deeply I love, how gentle I am, and how ready I am to find a family who will love me just as I am. All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.
