Miguel is a handsome 2-year old male kitty who was brought to the HSOV on April 7, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Hillcrest Drive in Marietta Ohio. Miguel was in dire need of medical attention since his left front leg had been injured and, to make matters worse, his leg had become swollen with infection. Our HSOV kennel techs/staff gave Miguel the best care (in addition to one of our wonderful local veterinarians) and with good food along with antibiotics, the infection in his leg was cleared up and the swelling went down. In spite of his condition, Miguel always maintained his super-friendly disposition .. And naturally we fell in love with this big lovebug. Miguel has the appearance of a miniature Panther with his silky black coat, a few white hairs on his chest, and a beautiful black face with bright golden eyes .. But he isn't just another pretty face (smile) .. Miguel has an awesome personality and is a pushover for attention. Miguel has enjoyed being in the front office of our shelter for the past two months where he has done very well with cat-friendly dogs who have been housed in the same area as Miguel. Miguel quickly learned that the large dog beds were really superior to the blankets in his large open floor crate, so he became a bit of thief and often managed to steal the dog's bed .. And surprisingly they never seemed to challenge his authority since he was very cordial about the take-over (smile). Miguel was given vaccinations and dewormer on April 8, 2026. He weighed 8 lbs that day. Miguel was given booster vaccines on May 8, 2026. Miguel underwent surgery on May 26, 2026 for the amputation of his left front leg, and he came through the procedure with flying colors. Within a few days, Miguel was running around much the same way as any 4-legged cat .. And he has recently perfected his 'high jump' skills and can climb onto chairs/desks. Miguel was also neutered on May 26th while he was under anesthesia. So he is ready to jump into a special someone's arms who will offer him the hospitality of a forever home.
