About Ellie

The biographical information provided is correct to the best of our knowledge while the animal is in our care or includes what may have been provided by a previous owner. We strive to be honest and accurate, but animals can change their personalities and behavior when they settle into a new home. IDR+ makes no guarantees based on the information we observe and provide. Ellie is a 3-year-old English Bulldog whose story started out a little rough. She was found wandering as a stray and ended up at the animal shelter in pretty terrible shape. She was filthy, had severe skin infections, and painful infections in both ears. Since coming into rescue, Ellie has been getting lots of TLC, daily medications, and weekly (sometimes twice-weekly) medicated baths. While she still has some healing to do, she's feeling better every day and learning what its like to be loved and cared for. As her health improves, her personality is really starting to shine. Ellie has discovered that playing is actually pretty fun! When she gets excited and takes off across the backyard, watch out-this girl turns into a flying bowling ball. She loves chasing toys when they're thrown, but retrieving them? Not so much. Typical bulldog logic says the fun part is the chase. Ellie gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company, but like many female Bulldogs, she can be a little pushy at times. Easygoing dogs or overly friendly dogs who wont take offense to her bulldog attitude would be ideal companions. She would also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog. Cats don't interest Ellie much, and she mostly ignores the ones in her foster home. Because of her size and enthusiasm when she's zooming around, teens and up would be the best fit. One thing you'll notice right away is how quiet she is. She rarely barks and is generally content to nap, eat, and hang out with her people. And speaking of eating - Ellie absolutely loves food. Meals, treats, snacks... she's a big fan of all of it. Most of all, Ellie loves attention. After spending who knows how long fending for herself, she's finally getting to experience the good life, and she's embracing it more every day. She's learning how to play, how to relax, and how wonderful it is to have people who care about her. Ellie is a sweet, funny little bulldog who deserves a family that will continue showing her just how good life can be.
