About Goldilocks

APRIL 2026 Goldilocks, a young standard poodle, was found abandoned in a box with a 'free dog' sign in the New Orleans area. A kind-hearted person brought her to a local animal shelter, where staff were shocked by her condition. She was severely matted, dangerously thin, and so weak she could barely move. The shelter staff performed an emergency shave and discovered she was only 15 poundsless than half of what a healthy standard poodle her age should weigh. Large sores had formed on her elbows, and she was extremely dehydrated. Despite her suffering, Goldilocks managed a gentle tail wag, showing her sweet spirit even in the worst circumstances. JUNE 15, 2026 From the staff at Sherwood South Transformation Tuesday!! Catching up with Miss Goldilocks. Goldie has been on an ongoing journey with our hospital for months. When she was admitted into our care, she couldnt stand, much less lift her head to eat or drink. She was rescued from the French Quarter, found in a cardboard box. She was so emaciated that her body had broken down muscle to survive; we estimate she had only a couple of days left. She had two awful wounds on her elbow that exposed bone. Our team worked with her from her rescue day, day in and day out, to give this sweet girl a second chance at life. She received a blood transfusion with us, and our staff provided extensive care, including hand-feeding and syringing water, until she gained enough strength to start learning to sit up on her own, walk, and most importantly, learn how to be a dog again . She returns to us for another milestone; she is now cleared to get spayed, one of the final chapters in her journey of finding a new home. We are grateful to be part of this girl's journey. Thank you to Creole Poodle Rescue for working with us to give this girl a second chance. Our entire staff has poured their hearts into this sweet girl. We cant wait to see where she goes next! Everyone wish her luck on finding the perfect family for her; she deserves it JUNE 17,2026 We are so excited!! Guess who is getting spayed tomorrow? We can hardly believe it, but after all shes been through our sweet Goldie is gonna be ready to be adopted! Thats right our little Goldilocks is now weighing almost 32 pounds. Her elbows are healed and she will soon be ready for adoption! Anyone who wants to adopt Goldilocks will need to have an impeccable veterinary reference from your present and/or previous dogs and your groomer. Also an above ground 6 foot fenced yard. It would be great if she had another dog to play with because she has learned how to do this at her fosters home. There will be more posts, but if you want to get a headstart, email us at Creolepoodlerescue@yahoo.com and we will send you an adoption application and our adoption process
